We started Gigi's in 1989. The shop name reflects my nickname as my family and many friends (& all our pets) know me as Gigi. Actually I started with the name "For Pets & People Too", but I noticed people thought it was a pet shop, and it really is a specialty gift shop for people who love animals, so I was trying to come up with another name that conveyed that idea more clearly, and my niece Paula Jean told me, "Why don't you just call it "Gigi's"?! |

Gigi strives to carry items that are practical (i.e., doggy coats in sizes from Teacup to Great Dane) as well as unusual items (biker jackets, doggy sunglasses, pet sympathy cards, doggy bakeware and cookie cutters, etc.) and she delights when she hears customers giggling at some of the many various humorous items she carries, such as the "Dog Rules" photo mats, and doormats with humorous sayings, such as "Warning - Dog Can't Hold His Licker!" Gigi is very likely to have something for even unusual breeds and customers are often surprised to find that there is a good chance they may find a cute gift with their breed, even if it is a Catahoula Leopard Dog or a Spinone Italiano! |

Gigi belongs to many animal rescue organizations and networks with many local organizations in an effort to place dogs and cats in ‘forever’ homes. Her love for animals is reflected in the shop’s policy of not carrying items that are made from fur, feathers, or leather (items such as wallets, purses or doggy biker jackets are made of a high grade synthetic leather called "pleather"). Gigi is passionate about urging people to adopt from shelters and rescue groups, and buying only from reputable breeders. |
